ERRE TAKES PART IN OPEN HOUSE VALENCIA 2025

  • Events
ERRE took part in the seventh edition of the Open House Valencia festival with two projects: the Hortensia Herrero Art Centre (2023) and the Roig Arena and its surroundings — an urban tour that also included three other projects we designed in the area: CEIP Les Arts, a public school whose facilities we completely rebuilt due to their poor condition; the Roig Arena multi-storey car park, offering over one thousand spaces with natural light and ventilation; and the Valencia Basket “Parque de l’Afició,” a large 20,000 m² green public space.

The ERRE team, together with the festival mediators, shared with visitors the details of both projects during the guided tours and delved into their construction processes in the lecture “Hacer Ciudad” (“Building the City”), part of the festival’s satellite activities program.

The talk addressed the main challenges involved in both the restoration of the Palacio Valeriola —to transform it into the current Hortensia Herrero Art Centre— and the construction of the Roig Arena along with the planning of its urban surroundings. On one hand, the design of the Hortensia Herrero Art Centre offered the opportunity to intervene in Valencia’s historical heritage and recover an architectural and artistic legacy spanning several centuries: from the remains of the Roman circus and traces of the medieval Jewish quarter to the seventeenth-century Baroque palace. On the other hand, the Roig Arena —designed in collaboration with the global architecture firm HOK— together with the other three nearby projects, was conceived to transform the Quatre Carreres district into a new international urban catalyst for Valencia. The multifunctional venue, covering 58,500 m², can accommodate up to 15,600 people in basketball mode and 20,000 in concert configuration on its central floor. Its ceramic louver façade, an unprecedented solution that defines its architectural identity, along with the outdoor terraces and its culinary offering, make it a new meeting point for the city.
