Torre Bellver Hotel

hotel oropesa
Situated at the foot of the Sierra de Oropesa, this unique complex lies on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Castellón, in a historic and strategic enclave that has welcomed civilizations since the Iberian settlements.

The intervention aspires to “be landscape.” It does not aim to occupy the territory but rather to create a vast garden for wandering—immersed in the green of nature and the blue of the sea.

To capitalize on the topography, a series of dispersed buildings are conceived, linked by subterranean passages carved into the mountain itself. These volumes emerge from the earth and seamlessly merge with the rammed-earth walls of the agricultural terraces, forming an ensemble where architecture and green spaces become one.

The proposal arises from the sectional study, aiming for every volume to nestle naturally into the terrain. Support elevations are analyzed to maximize views and integration. The roofs emerge with the same materiality as the landscape, extending toward the valley. A project where curved forms harmonize with the surroundings, creating a perfect symbiosis between architecture and nature.

Both the hotel and the villas are characterized by an organic design that always faces the sea and promotes a lifestyle seamlessly connecting interior and exterior. Within the hotel complex, privacy and separation of uses are guaranteed. Children have strategically placed play areas, affording them their own space without disturbing guests seeking intimacy and rest.

All residences are oriented toward the sea so that each guest may behold their own personal panorama. The pathways have been conceived as contemplative promenades, weaving the entire complex and creating spaces for events and social interaction. To ensure seamless operation, service routes have been routed underground to the buildings.

Access to every area is provided by electric buggies, traversing routes framed by spaces where guests—according to their own pace—may either pass through or linger, enjoying the variety of experiences the resort offers.

Unsurprisingly, water is ever-present throughout the complex in myriad forms: from sculptural fountains to saltwater pools. Special attention has been paid to the network of drainage channels laid across the site to ensure proper runoff in the event of rain. A natural-rock pool and a jetty have even been incorporated at the shoreline to maximize a direct, unmediated connection with our Mediterranean.
