ROIG ARENA UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Time flies! It seems like yesterday when we announced the beginning of the construction process of the Casal España Arena of València and it has already been one year of construction of this exciting project for the city of Valencia, promoted by Licampa 1617 S.L., which we are developing together with the international office HOK.
During all this time the ground excavation down to -2 metres (aproximately 80.000 m3) have already been completed. Moreover, 13200 m2 of slurry walls have been executed.
FOUNDATIONS AND STRUCTURE
Currently, the extraction of water from the water table is being carried out and it is being redirected to irrigation channels near the lot for its reuse. This extraction is allowing to continue with the excavation of the land up to 7 meters deep to, during the summer, execute the special foundation of the Arena.
Once the special foundation is finished, the plan is move into Phase 2 in the second half of this year. This phase includes the concrete and metal structure of the complex.
CAPACITY AND SURROUNDINGS OF THE ARENA
This Arena, which is possible thanks to a public-private partnership, is located on Ángel Villena, Bomber Ramon Duart and Antonio Ferrandis streets (next to the L’Alqueria del Basket and the Pavelló Font de San Lluís), and it will span a total built area of approximately 47,000 square metres, with a maximum capacity of 15,600 spectators in basketball mode and 18,600 in concert mode.
Finally, the project also envisages the construction of complementary areas to improve the neighbourhood and revitalize it, such as “Les Arts” public school (whose construction process has been constantly updated through this blog I and II), a public park and an underground and aboveground car park with approximately 1,300 parking spaces.
