Work to begin on Roig Arena

WORK BEGINS ON THE ROIG ARENA

After an intense but stimulating process that began in July 2018, the Roig Arena project, promoted by Licampa 1617 S.L., has received the go-ahead to start building in Valencia.

This project, the personal yet altruistic initiative of Juan Roig, is now entering the construction stage after several years of enthusiastic hard work by all the technical, social and political agents involved.

The construction process, developed in collaboration with the international office HOK, will be completed in 2023, the year when Valencia will be able to enjoy an urban infrastructure of the highest quality, so enhancing the sporting facilities of the city and providing a venue for musical and cultural events for both the city and the entire metropolitan area.

THE ARENA AND ITS ENVIRONMENT

The Arena is to be built on the plot adjacent to L`Alquería del Basket, itself built next to the Fonteta de San Lluís Pavilion, the current stadium of Valencia Basketball Club. It will occupy an area of around 47,000 square meters with a maximum capacity of 15,600 seats for basketball games and 18,600 for concerts.

The project also includes the construction of an underground and overground car park with approximately 1,300 parking spaces, a multipurpose hall of 1,200 square meters, catering areas, terraces and premium zones.

Finally, the project also envisages the construction of complementary areas to improve the image of the neighbourhood, such as green zones and the building of a new, modern infrastructure for the “Les Arts” state school.
